Freedom's Spirit

Across a wide and grassy plain,
His hoof beats thunder, like falling rain.
A coat as white as December snow,
Against the sun, it casts a fiery glow.
He roams alone and yet so free,
This is how Life was meant to be.
In the distance, where earth and sky meet,
Past canyons, meadows and fields of wheat.
With nostrils flaring and fire in his chest,
He pushes onward, continually without rest.
Above and beyond the sapphire sky,
Where freedom soars, where eagles fly
He hears a loud and piercing cry.
This race, he has not won, but still must try.
A lone observer in flight, watches his every move
Eyeing each nook,cranny,corner and groove.
Above and below, in Freedom's embrace
The twain continue their perpetual race.

LOVE'S Embrace

When I could not believe and hope, in Love anymore
LOVE, came knocking sweetly upon my heart's door
This soul has journeyed through Time and Space
In search of  LOVE'S true, patient and kind face
To feel loved and secure in the warmth of its embrace
Was it all an illusion or perhaps it was just by chance?
That this heart recognized LOVE in a rare but single glance?
Maybe it was just the voice of my heart's longing despair,
That brought us together, on a wing and a prayer?
I cannot explain why I can or should love you this way,
When the song in my heart, sings.."Love Is Here To Stay."
I cannot turn back and unwind the fated Hands of Time
Nor question this Love, through Reason or Rhyme
For, my heart has been opened to love completely
And to revel in Love's Embrace, ever so sweetly.
I love you with such passion, that even I cannot deny
A love that could move mountains, and even make Angels cry
Even if we part and the trails of my  tears cannot be erased,
I count myself blessed to have felt the purity of LOVE'S Embrace.

LOVE....indeed, is Bittersweet

The Witching Hour

Beware the eve, when the full moon rises
When humans don their eerie disguises
Just when the hands of time strikes Twelve
Into the cold and gripping darkness we delve
Tis, the time of the....Witching Hour
When spirits seek to regain their power
The Dead and the Living, both share the night
As Fear lends wings..... to flight

Shadows of Loneliness

The night unfolds in an eternity of unbearable silence
As I, wearily lay down in its cold shadows of emptiness
NOTHING...but the sound of my breaking heart
Muffled sobs of inconsolable despair, echo in the darkness

Oh Love, my soul yearns for the comfort of your embrace!
Unrelenting visions of you, shatters my resolve to seek Sleep's
welcoming face
The light of the midnight moon, filters softly behind silver clouds
Between its glowing beauty and the cavernous dark, I am held
Yet, my heart and soul are not soothed by the gentleness of its touch
As memories of you, unwind like scenes on a movie screen

My mind, heart and soul ....cries out with such languid strife!
Darling, I am and have become a prisoner of Love's cruel torment
Please...My Love, do not forsake me to such unbearable grief

Woe am I, for Happiness is but an elusive stranger to this heart of mine!
Alas, it would have been  better not to know LOVE, than to be burned
by its flame
THEN perhaps, only through Death's kindness, will this Soul find peace
As I, once again, wearily succumb to its enfolding arms, and cold, oh so
cold....Shadows of Emptiness.

Yesterday's Door

When we hold on to a painful memory
We never truly allow our hearts to be free
I ventured forth to open yesterday's door
Yet, fearful of the pain, I'd feel once more
As if in a trance, I  reached for the doorknob
Whilst my heart shuddered back, a painful sob
I flung the door quickly, until it was opened wide
I tried not to look. Oh, how I wanted to hide!
Here, I stood in front of Yesterday's door
Like a weary ship, abandoned and wrecked
upon a rocky shore
I didn't want to look and I didn't want to see
But deep down inside, Oh, how I yearned to be Free!
I opened my eyes ever so slowly, but to a great surprise
A promise of a New Dawn....Love's New Sunrise
I basked in the warmth of its wondrous glow
With a revelation, to which I now....Know
The truth about LOVE is quite simple and plain,
LOVE, in its true essence....is never in vain.

Freedom's Quest

Voices of dissension echo across the land
As Freedom boldly makes a stand
In Truth and Justice do we afford
To brandish the light of Freedom's sword
Unshackling the chains of Inhumanity
IS but a step towards...Being FREE
First, we must... unlock and unbind
Ideas that enslave the spirit and mind.
Tell me stranger, can you recognize her face?
To what purpose, do you seek Freedom's embrace?
At what price and length, will you commit your life?
To rid humanity of  its Ignorance and Strife?
For World Peace.... and hopefully in return
A chance for Freedom's truth and eternal flame to burn.

A Moonlit Night

The moon rises above a sea of undulating clouds
As a cold sliver of wind, splices the quietness of night
Shadows, like a seasoned thief, crawl stealthily
upon the ground
Indistinguishable shapes become mere silhouettes..
The deafening silence gives way to the sound of
thundering heartbeats
As  icicles of fear creep slowly into the recesses
of the heart.
The mind, becomes a restless arena of horrific
imagery.
The moon slowly fades to black, behind viscous
clouds
Darkness...descends like a lifeless veil of shadows
It  is cold.
It is quiet.
It is.....Midnight.

Only In God's Hands

Sometimes in Life, we are dealt a difficult hand
Nothing is coming up roses, and things are far from grand
MISERY, a constant companion, invades our thoughts
each day
DOUBT, a relentless stranger, coaxes our hearts to stray
BITTERNESS, a vile accomplice, dictates the words we say
We have but only to place our troubles, in God's loving hands
Shouldering our burdens, to where our Redeemer's Cross stands
The TRUTH, is plain and simple, yet for many, it is hard to see
That God, without fail, has always been there, for You and for Me
In our weary and  darkest hour, we will need him all the more
For GOD is a beacon of steadfast HOPE, that guides us safely ashore

Unfaithful

When you decided to be unfaithful,
you didn't think of us
You shattered all our dreams
and erased out all the trust
You say that you love me and the children,
and I've heard that all before
Please, when we are GONE, don't come
 knocking on our door
All I wanted was to be loved, as I have loved
 you without question
Instead of TRUTH, you gave me LIES and
 DECEPTION
I have often heard you say, that you wanted
 to be  "FREE"
I hung onto hope, until you said that you never
 loved me
You've hurt me so many times, and I should
have left you THEN
But now it is not a question of HOW, but rather...
 WHEN?

The Bus Ride

Life's blurred images quickly catapult by
As my roaming eyes do effortlessly spy
A homeless man, standing by the road
Protectively clinging to his precious load
By the streetlight he stood, abandoned
and alone
Completely lost in a world of his own
The Bus slowly glides into Chinatown
As expressions soon change from a smile,
to a frown
People begin crowding the narrow aisle
Pushing past others, who have been standing
for awhile
Two lovers in front of me, looked lost in each
other's eyes
As an elderly lady, looks on with despise
I sat at the back and squirmed in my seat
As my senses became stifled, with their body heat
SWOOSH...came the sound of the closing door
As I gazed out the window, to seek respite once more.
